More than a Home, Buy into a Community

Selecting the right modern home for you and your family isn’t just about what’s between the walls or within your property line. It’s also about…LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.

When buying a new home, a buyer should consider whether the single family home they are about to purchase exists within a neighborhood that makes sense for them and their family. So, with this in mind, let’s talk about some of the more critical components of selecting your new home within a community.  It’s as simple asking yourself: What is most important to me and why?

FetchImage.ashx

  • If you have children: you may want to live within walking distance of your children’s elementary school or in close proximity to parks and playgrounds.
  • If you’re a young professional: with no children you may care more about whether your neighborhood is within walking distance to a downtown or recreational activities, or if it’s close enough to the highway to help reduce your morning commute.
  • If you’re retired: you may be looking for some peace and quiet, you may be looking for a home with less maintenance and special space for your hobbies, or near by folks with similar interests and tastes.

Once you’ve solidified your priorities and decided what’s important to you, the second step is to refine those priorities by thinking outside the box a little.

One of the most common mistakes a homebuyer can make when selecting a single family home is thinking in the now, rather than 5, 10, 15 years down the road. Thinking too short-term can lead to an unhappy homeowner and an unhappy homeowner is the last thing we want you to be. So, now ask yourself this question: Will this be important to me in the future and why?

  • If you have young children and want to live within walking distance of your children’s elementary school or close to the parks and recreation, think about how your kids will undoubtedly end up going to a middle school or high school somewhere else in town. Will the location still work for your family 5 or 10 years down the road as kids get older and needs change.
  • If you’re that same young professional who wanted to live close to the nightlife and not far from the highway, think about how quickly that will all change once you get older, get married, and have children. Will you struggle to find silence for your newborn when living close to the city’s center or nearby noisy roads.
  • If you’re that same retiree who wanted the peace and quiet, as well as like-minded neighbors, think about how your children may one day want to visit you and how they will likely bring your sweet, but boisterous grandchildren. If you will travel during certain times of the year does your home allow for easy maintenance?

At Crabbe Homes,  we not only build homes that people love to live in, but we also help to create communities worth raving about that respect a variety of interests and priorities. Whether you’re looking for a single family home nestled in a quiet neighborhood nearby local schools, or a more modern house situated in a growing part of town, we can help.

Cheers to 243 Years!!

Our home office resides in a humble, devoted military town. Given that so many of our clients and employees are linked to Fort Campbell here in Clarksville, TN, we felt called to wish the United States Army a Happy 243rd Birthday!!

The Congress of the United States established the First Continental Army on this day back in 1775. This army was created to organize trained soldiers to help combat the British. From its humble beginnings as an amateur force of colonial troops, cobbled together from various militia, to its status today as the largest branch in the U.S. military, the Army has seen it all, from the Revolutionary War to conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is the perfect time for soldiers, veterans and their families to reflect on their honorable history. Cheers to all of you and enjoy your cake cutting ceremonies today!

Fun facts about the United States Army:

  • Twenty-four U.S Presidents served in the United States Army.
  • If the US Army were a city, it would be the 10th largest in the United States.
  • The U.S Army is older than the United States
  • Over the past 10 years, Green Berets have been deployed in over 135 countries worldwide
  • The U.S Army is the second largest employer in the U.S.
  • June 14th serves as another “patriotic birthday” – The American flag was adopted one year after the creation of the Army; June 14th, 1776.

On Thursday May 24th,The 101st Airborne Division will host a “Day of the Eagles” to celebrate their legacy of heroism, unique air assault capabilities and heritage. What a great way to kick off the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. The day starts off at 6:15am with opening remarks and a Division Memorial Run between TN/KY Ave and 19th Street intersections.

Unit Welcome Centers and Unit Open House displays and tours showcasing equipment, vehicles and other static displays will be going on from 9am – 3pm.  Be sure to visit Johnson Field for swag, food trucks and snow cones for the kiddos.

The Don Pratt Museum, which was established in 1956 as museum to honor the 101st Airborne Division, will be open for public tours as well. This museum recently underwent major renovations and is a definite must see for history and military enthusiasts! The museum documents the division’s inception in 1942 through its recent deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Fort Campbell guests may tour The Sabalauski Air Assault School at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. The school’s mission is to train Soldiers in air assault operations, sling-load operations and rappelling. Tours will include demonstrations for visitors.
